Foundation Programme (N2, K1 & K2 levels)

For children at nursery 2 and kindergarten levels, we have designed our very own syllabus. It is a complete, fully structured 3-year thematic course geared towards establishing a sound foundation in the Chinese language. This course is specially designed with the MOE's primary school syllabus in mind and serves to prepare our students for primary 1.

The emphasis in the pre-primary levels is the recognition of Chinese characters rather than its writing. New characters are introduced at each lesson based on our specially designed curriculum. Children are also encouraged to speak and express themselves in Chinese. Regular “show and tell” sessions are conducted. An example is the popular “Pet’s week” in June.

Our N2, K1 and K2 students put up “mini-concerts” for their parents after completion of each unit, held in our centre’s audtiorium.  Performances include Chinese songs, poems and story telling. This allows parents to observe and participate in their children’s learning. After the concert, teachers will conduct a meet-the-parents session and discuss their children’s progress.

"Hanyu pinyin” is taught at the K2 level throughout the year. Based on feedback from parents, we conduct a 6-week optional intensive course for K2 children (with one parent sitting in) in October on how to master “hanyu pinyin”.  We also conduct a free well-received one-day intensive “hanyu pinyin” course in December for all parents of children entering Primary 1 the following year.  All these serve to give parents an understanding of “hanyu pinyin” so that they in turn can help coach their children.
